Charles Pilon studied violin with Sonia Jelinkova at Montréal’s Marianapolis College. He earned a Bachelor of Music from McGill University under Mauricio Fuks and completed the University of Southern California’s Advanced Studies program with Robert Lipett. Charles Pilon plays both viola and violin, having discovered a passion for the viola through studies with David Cerone at the Encore School and Roman Totenberg at Kneizel Hall. He joined in 2003 Orchestra London in the first violin section, and in 2004 joined the Edmonton Symphony’s first violins. In 2005, he became the ESO’s assistant principal violist. A recipient of scholarships from the Arts Foundation in Quebec and Alberta, Charles Pilon continues viola studies with Nick Pulos at Mt Royal College in Calgary, and with Thomas Riebl in Austria.
